Blepharoplasty in Colombia

If you are concerned about the appearance of your eyelids and would like to restore a more youthful appearance to your eyes, you might be a suitable candidate for eyelid surgery. This page will give you a basic understanding of the procedure and the results you can expect.

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a surgical procedure designed to restore a youthful appearance to your eyes. The goal of eyelid surgery is to remove from upper eyelid excess skin, muscle, and some fat that may develop because of aging, gravity, and sun exposure. Eyelid surgery on the lower eyelids can remove excess skin and puffy bags, but it is important for you to know it will not remove crow's feet or dark circles from beneath your eyes. To accomplish these, several other procedures may be performed alone or in conjunction with your eyelid surgery

Depending on your individual circumstances and goals, you may choose to have only your upper eyelids treated, or only your lower eyelids treated, or both your upper and lower eyelids treated.

Wrinkles, crow's feet, and dark circles may be treated with Botox injections, laser resurfacing, or chemical peels.

Patients sometimes feel that drooping of the eyebrows often accompanies aging of the eyelids. But many times, eyebrows are in the correct position and excess skin from upper eyelid is the problem. While blepharoplasty will address your concerns regarding your eyelids, it will not change the position of your eyebrows. If Dr Pavajeau finds you would be a suitable candidate for a brow lift, eyelid surgery is also commonly performed with a lifting of the brow but it is an additional procedure not part of a Blepharoplasty.

The cornerstone of Dr. Pavajeau approach is to individualize treatment to your specific circumstances and goals and to ensure that you have an adequate understanding of the issues involved so that you can make a fully informed decision. This will help you achieve the appearance you desire with the least invasive procedure available, thus creating a mutually rewarding experience. Dr. Pavajeau invites you to visit all the web site or have a complimentary consultation when you arrive to Colombia to discuss the procedure in greater detail. You are also invited to email Dr. Pavajeau with your questions, or we can mail you more detailed information regarding the procedure.

An excellent eyelid surgery rejuvenates the aging eye , but patients should look absolutly natural.

What things should I know before Eyelid Surgery?

An expert eyelid surgeon is the most important thing you should look for.Upper eyelid excess skin resection may limit natural closure of your eyes. Lower eyelid resection of skin on the lower eyelid can change the shape of the eye if too much skin is resected. Dr Pavajeau tries to be conservative in not making excess skin resection.

What is the ideal age to plan a blepharoplasty?

As soon as the eye looks tired or sad. This may be in some patients at early 30 s. But most patients between 40 and 50 years. Patients between 60 and 70 years can also be candidates, but most of the time is for purely functional reasons.

Local or General anesthesia.?

It is generally performed under local anesthesia and it takes one hour and a half to two hours. When patient is also needing a facelift, Blepharoplasty is performed under General anesthesia.

What kind of surgical skill is required for good blepharoplasty?

The best eyelid surgeon must be very careful and conservative and should never try to remove more skin than needed. A lot of precision is required.

How is my postoperative in my Blepharoplasty?

You should put some cold gauze, and never ice directly over the eye.   Stitches are removed 3rd to 5th Day.

If I had a previous surgery with another surgeon and I'm not satisfied, can I re-operate with Dr. Pavajeau to correct it?

If the other surgeon resected too much skin, skin transplantation or a skin graft may be an option. However, the result will never be natural. Therefore, the most important thing is to have a good first surgery.

If the first surgeon left some excess skin a mall additional resection of skin will improve the problem.
